Pigeon
Pigeon
A fattened club-footed pigeon;
contradicting Darwin perhaps,
or, just a prime sign
of that other requirement for survival:
determination.
Or happenstance perchance –
club-footed pigeon, a lucky landing,
strays upon a feasting ground
of sandwich crumbs so bountiful -
too plentiful - more
than one pigeon can digest.
Thus he has the luxury
not to be selective,
thus not to be selected
as Darwin has suggested;
and, whilst he is neglected,
in terms of his genetics,
he feasts in fields of chaos -
he has been made fat by chance.
